Aladja Monastery (3 km) - one of the few preserved and accessible rock monasteries in Bulgaria, dating from the early Middle Ages and of enormous cultural significance. Monastic cells and a small church have been dug into the sheer rock. You can still see colourful frescoes that date back as far as the 13th century. Pobitite Kamuni (36 km) - meaning "Rammed Stones", these stone structures were formed by erosion around 50 million years ago and contain numerous fossils.
